Jennifer Nelson, LICSW

 

Jennifer is a native of Birmingham, AL, and matriculated through the Birmingham City School System. Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Montevallo, where she majored in Social Work and minored in Psychology. 

With a desire to further her education, Jennifer attended the University of Georgia and completed the Advanced Standing Program to receive her Master of Social Work degree in 2012. 

Over the course of her career, spanning 12 years, Jennifer has worked with many “at-risk” populations of people, including the elderly, those experiencing homelessness, individuals living with severe mental illness, persons dealing with substance use disorders, and individuals facing domestic violence. For every population she has worked with, Jennifer has the ability to relate and express empathy due to her own personal experiences. 

Additionally, Jennifer is experienced in utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychodynamic Therapy with individuals and groups. 

Jennifer believes that her purpose in life is to show unbiased love, compassion, and sincerity, and to help others improve their lives and sense of self in the most genuine and holistic manner. Jennifer is an advocate for self-care, self-awareness, and establishing healthy boundaries. Jennifer is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc.”
