Jasmine Shorter, ALC

Under the supervision of Dominique Cecil, LPC-S

" I'm here to help you find your most fulfilled self, beyond your problems and despite your traumas."

Jasmine is a Birmingham native. She received her undergraduate degree from University of Alabama at Birmingham and graduate degree from Jacksonville State University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She has experience in inpatient settings as well as outpatient care.

Her personal experience in therapy after a child loss in 2022 opened her eyes to the healing it can provide. That experience pushed her to change careers and focus on helping individuals and families find peace despite their traumas.

Who I Work Best With

Jasmine loves working with perinatal individuals, including those experiencing fertility complications, prenatal or postpartum depression and anxiety, and child loss.

She also works with couples, families, and individuals who are looking to grow beyond their struggles and create meaningful change in their lives.

My Approach to Therapy

Jasmine's therapeutic approach centers on identifying and building upon each individual's strengths while helping them gain clearer insight into areas of struggle and doubt.

By centering each individual's values and desires, she helps clients develop realistic expectations and healthy boundaries within their lives and relationships.

Her treatment methods include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Gottman-informed Couples treatment, and holistic approaches.

Jasmine is also Gottman Level 1 trained for Couples treatment.

What Sessions Feel Like

Session types vary depending on each client's individual needs but are always supportive and collaborative.

When working with couples and families, Jasmine focuses on the unit as a whole while also making sure each person feels heard, supported, and valued throughout the process.

Why Choose Me?

Jasmine believes therapy should be a collaborative process where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to create meaningful change.

By focusing on your strengths, values, and individual goals, she works alongside you to develop greater clarity, healthier boundaries, and realistic expectations for your life and relationships.
