Jakeia Johnson, LICSW-PIP

Seeking therapy is a courageous step, and I believe everyone deserves a space where they feel heard, respected, and empowered. With 19 years of experience as a social worker in various capacities and over four years providing mental health therapy, I am passionate about helping adults navigate life challenges while recognizing the strengths they already possess. My role is to provide guidance, education, and support as you work toward the life you want to build.

I believe that you are the expert on your own life. My job is not to tell you what to do, but to help you explore your options, develop insight, and make informed decisions that align with your values and goals.

Who I Work Best With

I work exclusively with adults ages 18 and older who are seeking meaningful change, healing, and personal growth.

My clients often come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about how to move forward. Whether you are navigating longstanding emotional struggles or facing a recent life transition, we will work together to identify practical strategies that promote lasting change.

I enjoy working with individuals experiencing:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • PTSD and trauma-related concerns
  • Mood disorders
  • Personality disorders
  • Neurodivergence, including ADHD and Autism
  • Substance use concerns
  • Stress and burnout
  • Self-esteem and identity concerns
  • Life transitions
  • Aging-related concerns and geriatric mental health
Mental Health Conditions & Specialties

My areas of focus include depression, anxiety, PTSD and trauma-related concerns, mood disorders, personality disorders, neurodivergence, substance use concerns, stress and burnout, self-esteem and identity concerns, life transitions, and aging-related concerns.

I also have experience supporting individuals navigating geriatric mental health and the unique challenges that can accompany different stages of adulthood.

My Approach to Therapy

My approach is supportive, collaborative, and honest. Clients often describe me as compassionate while also being direct when it is helpful. I believe therapy should be a place where difficult conversations can happen with respect, kindness, and without judgment.

Rather than making decisions for you, I serve as a coach and guide. I provide education, evidence-based strategies, and professional recommendations while honoring your autonomy.

Your decisions remain your own, and I respect each client's right to choose the path that feels most authentic to them, provided it does not place them or others at risk of harm.

I strive to help clients better understand themselves, recognize unhealthy patterns, strengthen emotional resilience, and develop practical skills they can use outside of therapy.

What Sessions Feel Like

You can expect sessions to feel welcoming, collaborative, and goal-oriented. We will work together to identify what matters most to you and create realistic steps toward change.

Some sessions may focus on processing emotions, while others may be more structured and skills-based. I believe in balancing empathy with accountability, helping clients feel supported while also encouraging growth and progress.

My goal is for you to leave each session with greater clarity, practical tools, and renewed confidence in your ability to navigate life's challenges.

Why Clients Choose Me

Clients who work with me often appreciate that I combine compassion with honesty. I am not a therapist who simply listens—I actively engage in the therapeutic process by asking thoughtful questions, offering education, providing constructive feedback, and helping clients develop practical solutions.

My background in social work allows me to view each client through a holistic lens, recognizing the impact that relationships, family dynamics, community, and life experiences can have on emotional well-being.

In addition to my clinical experience, I am a Doctor of Healthcare Administration (DHA). This additional training has strengthened my expertise in leadership, organizational development, healthcare systems, and healthcare administration.

This background allows me to support clients navigating workplace stress, professional development, leadership challenges, and career transitions within healthcare and other professional settings.
